TCP/IP stack problem3/24/2009 4:06:03 PM

Hi,
I have a Netware 5.1SP8 server with IPX and IP protocols set up. After
server has been rebooted both protocols worked fine for few days and
than only IPX works (IP just quit working). When that happens I can't
ping any address (even 127.0.0.1). I have the latest tcp587i patch
applied. There is not abend or any error message on the server. When I
bounce the server everything is fine for next few days and then IP just
drop.
Anybody has idea what to do to fix TCP/IP issue.
Thanks.

Have you tried a different network card (thus driver) or a newer driver
for the existing card? I've seen IP going to sleep due to driver issues.

It's a Dell 2600 with Intel nic. It's using ce1000.lan driver version
7.63. I just found on Dell website newer driver 7.65. I'm going to try
this one. I haven't try different nic since IPX is working fine.
BTW: just found the same issue on other 5.1SP8 server.

Given that SP8 has been out for years and much 5.1 boxes are running IP
(and many with IPX concurrently). So, if this is a wide-spread problem, it
should have surfaced quite some time ago. Therefore, I /think/ its not
core OS related but something else ... perhaps a service NLM clobbering
the IP stack or something.
