How to enable NAT feature for IP LAN?3/10/2009 1:06:02 PM

Hello Netware 5 GURUs,

I have NW 5.1 working for me last 6 years perfectly. I have LAN with
IPX and IP enabled on one side of the server (secondary private LAN),
and the ADSL modem connected to the another Ethernet card of my server
with IP enabled only on another side (public Internet). So far, I have
physical IP addresses allocated to me by the ISP for both the public
Internet port (4 addresses) and 16 physical IP addresses for the
private LAN port. The IP is configured as 'FORWARD=yes RIP=yes
STATIC=yes' in the AUTOEXEC.NCF file. THis worked perfectly.
Now (due to increased numbers of workstations) I want to cancel
physical IP addresses at my private LAN and use virtual IP addressing
with NAT feature from the 192.168.0.128-255 addresses to the physical IP
address that I have at the Internet port. I need to leave both IPX and
IP protocols at my private LAN. The bottom line is that after spending 2
days trying to reconfigure the IP to support NAT I failed to do this.
Documentation is rather poor on this issue and generally take you the
SCMD.NLM, whcih I do not need to use.
I used INETCFG to BIND IP ADDRESS TRANSLATION in DYNAMIC mode and RIP
ENABLE with RECEIVE ONLY mode on both networks, and this does not work.
The ping does not go thru the server to external router.

I will highly appreciate every advise from you how to fix this simple
problem.
Many thanks,
Pavel

The NetWare NAT feature is actually a feature that is inherited from
BorderManager. So as there is no reply here, maybe you should try in the
following BorderManager forum (even if you don't use BorderManager):
