I have built a user control that dconsists of a drop-down list, with forward and back buttons, to enable the user to navigate through a large resultset without always having to pull down the drop-down list.

All works well.

However, I would like to add some functionality to this control. Specifically, I would like the user to be able to use the arrow buttons to navigate forward and backward through the list by using the forward and back arrow buttons on their keyboard.

I have a javacript which will allow them to do this. However, I need some help implementing with the following:

1) As it is a user control, I need to know how to access the ID of the forward and back buttons (the buttons on my control, NOT the ones on the keyboard).

2) In order for this script to work, it will need to be defined at the page level, on the body tag. How do I accomplish this through the control?

3) The Body tag of the parent document will almost certainly have other events defined for it (just so you know that there may be some possibility of conflict).

4) The user control may be nested inside another user control before being consumed by a page.

I would appreciate any help anyone can offer in terms of implementing this functionality.

1) myButton.ClientID
2) Page.RegisterClientScriptBlock, .RegisterStartupScript, .RegisterArrayDeclaration
use RegisterClientScriptBlock for the generic script library
use RegisterArrayDeclaration to emit the ClientID's of the buttons
use RegisterStartupScript to emit an Init call into the library.
3) irrelevant with #2
4) irrelevant with #1

Oner question, though? How do I associate an event with the BODY onkeypress event? If I have a function in my library (say, myKeyPressFunction), how do I make sure that whenever a key is pressed on the page, it gates called?
