Templated User Control

I've done some searches through this form and on google and haven't found the correct keyword combination to find me my answer so here goes...

I have a user control that is very basic. Its meant to act as a "content box" to allow me the same look and feel regardless of the content placed inside. Here's an example of how I would use it...



	<my:ContentBox id="Contentbox1" runat="server">


		<TitleTemplate>


			Page Navigation


		</TitleTemplate>


		<ContentTemplate>


			<iewc:TreeView id="tvwNavigation" runat="server"></iewc:TreeView>


		</ContentTemplate>


	</my:ContentBox>

What is causing me the problem is in the Page_Load event of the page that has this content box I attempt to access the tvwNavigation control in the control collection of the content box and it fails because it hasn't been loaded yet. This is because the control seems to get rendered after the page. So what could I do to get the control to render so I can access the child controls inside the template?

If you post the code for the control class that would help a lot too. Some general suggestions -

Understand the order that things fire in, this helps:

Also understand the lower-level underpinnings of templated controls, and how to use the ITemplate interface, as it'll help you a whole bunch. This article really helped me understand this idea (most likely better than anything else I've read on the topic):

FYI - Templated control development had me STUCK dead in my tracks for weeks. Don't get frustrated and don't break anything. It's a weird idea to implement programmatically, and if you give it some time, you'll get it. That second article really helped me a whole lot.
