Hey all,

I am not looking for very much storage, bandwidth or any of that.  I just want to see my sql express dbases in action with asp.  I heard that I had to make sure that hosters allowed express db's and most of the hosts that I have asked seemed to NOT allow them or didnt understand what I was asking.

 Can someone give me some good hosting names?  OBVIOUSLY I want an inexpensive host since I am just trying to use it to learn - as in $10/month and below.

WebHost4life - good prices & good support . IT IS NOT the best host, but it will do what you need & it is just $9.95/m. You will get to MS SQL databases and you can run up to 8 web sites (web app.)

If you need host for your business i will recomend different one but for learning / personal site it is great.

Thanks a BUNCH!  This has exactly what I am looking for except that it takes $120 to get started.  But for now it is on top of my list, I will wait and hope for something a little more economical at the moment.  $9.95 is doable - I just hate forking out a whole years worth right up front.

Have a look at aspnix.com as well. I have found they offer a nice package/feature set.

SQL Express is intended for development use on your own computer and not for use in a shared hosting environment.  Even Microsoft recommends against it.   

I recommend to go with a host that will "Attach" your Express database to an SQL 2005 database and then you would change your web.config connection string to go to the live SQL 2005 database rather than the Express file.

We do provide an Automated Attach MDF File tool in our Control Panel to facilitate the transfer of local SQL Express databases to the live SQL database. We also host websites and SQL databases on separate servers and use the SQL 2005 Standard Edition. Some more food for thought :)

User was looking for hostin under $10/m wit SQL server ? so why do you offer host that cost $20/m ???
