Hello,
Looking for some advice, and of all the forums I?ve been on, I have to say, I?ve gotten the best advice here. I can?t even do justice in explaining the horror stories I?ve had over the past 6 months in finding a reliable ASP.NET 2.0 Host. I found out (from asp.net forum) that the reason my ASP sites did not work on several companies I signed up with is because J++ has to be installed separately on the server, so my simple test pages crashed on every host that swore to me they supported ASP.NET 2.0 with the J++ Language.
I was a 24 hour customer of GoDaddy, LunarPages, and IX. IX was great, but didn?t support 2.0 at all, so I had to leave.
Currently I use Host Department as I read some good reviews on them, but I will admit, I didn?t do enough homework. Host Department was able to install the J++ plug-in but my sites have been down more in the past 2 months than all the years I?ve had them. I was without e-mail for 2 months on all of my accounts; it took 5 different tickets, and finally contacting someone in their Customer Relations department to get anyone to respond to the tickets. On Thursday they switched me to a new mail sever, but then they informed me that all of their IP address are blacklisted from AOL, Comcast, Yahoo, Hotmail, and a few others. These are just a few issues I have with them.
Here is what I?m looking for:
-ASP.NET 2.0 (with J++ supported)
-MS SQL
-Reasonable Performance (I don?t know enough about this to have a specific requirement, but as long as every person who comes to my site doesn?t comment on how slow it is, it would be a step in the right direction).
-H-Sphere (preferred)
-Reseller Packages
-Exchange (not a requirement, but an added bonus)
Budget: For Reseller Package, around $100/month. Doesn?t have to be a dedicated server, as long as there are some dedicated IPs in there. Host Department was very cheap but a total disaster.
Narrowed it down to:
1) www.successfulhosting.com: I?ve heard good things about them but submitted a ticket to sales to ask them a few questions (they stated it?s the preferred method of contact), never heard back, so I called the 800 number and waited on hold for just under an hour before I just hung up. I figured if a sales department makes you wait that long, I?m afraid of what Tech Support would be. I?m still open to speaking with them if they are reliable.
2) www.relio.com
3) www.cartikahosting.com ? ** Fist Choice **
4) www.dailyrazor.com: Wasn?t sure about J++ for ASP.NET 2.0
5) www.weberz.com: Wasn?t sure about J++ for ASP.NET 2.0
Sorry if this is a long rambling post, but I?ve been banging my head against the wall for so long, and thought that this would be the best place to get some advice. Thanks in advance
