appearance of composite control3/2/2004 4:30:01 PM

Hi,
I used the register directive to put my composite control in a web page,but why the appearance of that control is a blank retangle at design time?I don't have any special setting for the bgcolor or forecolor.thx

It is like so because the controls in the control collection is being attempted to be rendered. However, there will be no controls in the control collection because (if you kept to the normal practise), that the EnsureChildControls method is called in the PreRender event. The PreRender event does not get fired when in the designer and therefore, the controls are not added to the control collection. To remedy, you may use the following: 


protected override Render(HtmlTextWriter writer) {


   EnsureChildControls();


   base.Render(writer);


}
