Webparts Personalization failing to save12/26/2006 1:31:09 AM

0/0

Background:

Two applications successfully using membership, personalization and forms security.

Both applications use the same database for personalization and membership and everything works very nicely.  Web part provider has been implemented in the web config file successfully which points to the same database I have been using for personalization and membership.

The application that I am using for the webparts is the newer application however this doesn?t seem to be an issue because the membership data for this application are saving correctly as a new application entry.

The error I get with my webparts is when changes are trying to be saved (moving a webpart etc)

The error is exactly as found in the link below.

(PathID and ID are Null and I strongly suspect everything is Null for these inserts)

http://forums.asp.net/thread/1179843.aspx

I also scripted the tables definitions to a different database but left the personalization database in question alone so I wouldn?t think that is causing my problem.

The link above has a comment about mismatch between runtime and the tables. I find this interesting because the application I am trying to use webparts with is the new application.

Any help?

If I installed webparts on the first application would it be predictable that it would work?

I found something very curious.

Before I used webparts I had an application called ?MySanbox? in the personalization application table.

Now I have two ?MySandbox? and ?/MySandbox?. Intresting because using webparts out of the box (not specifying any provider and using autocreated database) creates a an application entry called ?/MySandbox?.

I tried replacing the GUID of ?/MySandbox? to the same GUID of ?MySanbox? but got the exact same error.

Anyway maybe this information will help.
