I m to develop an IGoogle like application in .NET. I dont know how to go about it.. Please tell me what all technologies I need to use for the same.. and which would be the best..

Start Plating with Aspnet WebParts.. Basically this will allow you to create custimizable pages as what IGoogle does.. But i think IGoogle uses their own Engine or something to do the stuffs...

I have went through webparts already.. a post back is happening when i drag and drop.. it has some more limitations

Have you tried using Update Panel control? If you want to have a webparts without postbacks then you can refer to my article below

If you really want to have a great overview of how to create such a web 2.0 ajax enabled portal I can highly recommend Omar Al Zabir's book Building a Web 2.0 Portal with ASP.NET 3.5. He's to founder of pageflakes.com and in his book he explains every part of how to build such a web portal. I started to read it this week and it really gives you great ideas and a full working prototype of a portal.

He does build his own Widges framework where I would recommend looking into the Web Parts Framework of asp.net 2.0. A lot is already there.
