Firefox and WebParts5/16/2007 8:21:27 PM

Hopefully I am in the right place so please forgive me if I'm not.

Basically, here is my problem. I can get WebParts drag & drop to work beautifully in ie6 and ie7, the moment I try and go over to firefox, my settings are still there, but I can't drag and drop. If done some initial digging in here, and extensive googleing, but havent found a working solution as of yet. I have found a lot of people pointing to http://blogs.neudesic.com/blogs/david_barkol/archive/2006/11/07/631.aspx as an answer, but this doesn't seem to work either as it is already out dated due to the release of ajax 1.0.

Does any one have a good source that will correct this problem? I am up to date with AJAX, as well as using the latest framework

I have a normal web parts manager, normal webzones, information is stored in an SQL DB, nothing fancy. If I am missing something, its possible as I am still new to using Web Parts.

In any case, If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be most appreciative.

 Cheers

In order for drag and drop to work in firefox you will need to follow the instructions in that post.
The 1.0 release doesn't support d 'n d with firefox so that post is still valid.
You should use the latest CTP version.

I appreciate you taking the time to response.

However, here are some of the issues I am running into. If I go through the instructions provided, I get  Could not load type 'Microsoft.Web.Preview.UI.Controls.WebParts.WebPartManager'. I read through some of the posts and it mentioned that this needs to be changed due to namesspace changes. Fine, no problem...
I go through and update the webconfig once again using the new web.config settings to account for the namespace changes and i get "Could Not Load type 'System.Web.UI.Compataility". I did some digging and found out that this is because there was a piece missing from the release for validation. There was a post that had a patch specifically for the validation so I loaded it. Unfortunantly, once I loaded it, I received once again the Could not load type 'Microsoft.Web.Preview.UI.Controls.WebParts.WebPartManager'.
I feel like I am going in circles. It is however entirely possible I am incompetent :D

In Any case, Any help you can give, I am more than open to.

Cheers

Thanks you thank you thank you...

Got it to work.. using the information you provided...

The only thing I want to mention for those looking for it in the future is that the Validation piece doesn't quite work out of the box. To correct that problem I had to also utilize the solution provided by http://forums.asp.net/p/1067591/1549641.aspx

Thanks again Yes
