Changing property type causes serialization problems

Hi.

I would like to change a personalized property from one type to another. They are both enums, but the new enum type is located in a different assembly. The problem is that deserialized personalization state causes an exception. Is it possible to do this transition in a controlled fashion without requiring new personalization of the pages?
