This question has been asked before in this forum but there was no answer.

 What is the purpose of the "Override Application Root Url" on the Web project settings page?  I can not find any documentation for this or why one would want to use this.

In the project file the relevent entries are <OverrideIISAppRootUrl> and <IISAppRootUrl>, but I could not find any documention on them either.
