Publishing web site from command line7/18/2006 8:02:50 PM

I am trying to publish a web site from the command line so that it can be added to an automated build.  I can already build the web site a couple of different ways, including with MSBuild.  Though, I can't figure out how to get MSBuild to build AND publish the web site.  The Visual Studio output window gives little insight into what's really going on when you select Publish Web Site as well.  Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

Hi Girard,

Can you provide some more information?  Are you using the Website option or the WAP option?

Omar,

I guess I don't understand what you are asking.  Where would these options be?

Sorry for not being too clear.

In VS2005 we have a new way to defining web projects - i refer to this as teh "Website" model as its a new model that is significantly changed from VS2003.

Based on user feedback, we have released an add-in to VS2005 called "Web Application Projects", which i refer to as WAP here.  WAP provides a web project system that is very close to the VS2003 functionality.  I was asking specifically if you were using a Website project, or the WAP style project.

It seems from your response, that you are likely using the default Website model in VS2005 and are not using the WAP add-in.  When you mean publish, are you wanting to copy the outputs to a file location, or use a protocol like FTP or Frontpage Extensions to move the file to another machine?
