Hi

I get the following error message will trying to install the pre requisite for Web Application Projects

"The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer Service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program"

I have the following version of VS 2005

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
Version 8.0.50727.42  (RTM.050727-4200)
Microsoft .NET Framework
Version 2.0.50727

Installed Edition: IDE Standard

SQL Server Analysis Services  
Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services Designer
Version 9.00.1399.00

SQL Server Integration Services  
Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Designer
Version 9.00.1399.00

SQL Server Reporting Services  
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Designers
Version 9.00.1399.00

Any ideas ?

The problem was that Visual Studio was somehow partially installed. A reinstall of Visual Studio solved the problem

Hi,

I have the same issue and am curious -- how did you reinstall Visual Studio?  The version number and services you list in your original post are exactly like mine -- that was installed with SQL 2005 Enterprise.  When I insert either of the 2 SQL 2005 installation CDs, there is no Visual Studio listed in any of the components that get installed.  Did you reinstall the whole SQL 2005?

VS80-KB915364-X86-ENU only install on English version of VS2005. Is your version in english or other language ?
