Performance and memory issues with Beta 27/30/2007 2:00:45 PM

0

I cannot use the new beta release of Visual Studio Express.  It is so painfully slow, especially in split view mode.  Type a letter and wait.  Then I need to refresh the bottom half of the page?  Maybe there is a setting to have it done automatically; I haven't found it.  I haven't looked at the system requirements but I know VS2005 works great on my machine.  And the memory usage, according to the task manager, is through the roof along with the CPU usage.  98% and over 500 megs.  Is this a joke?

I guess for now I'll just stick with VS2005 and hope something changes with the beta so that I can use it.

Thanks for letting me vent :)

Did you follow the important installation instructions in ScottGu's Blog?

Thanks Ken.  I did the first step because I do use AJAX.  But the 2nd step didn't apply to me since I didn't have any of the listed versions installed.  I did reset the settings on VWDExperss.exe and it seemed to do something.  It's a bit quicker but not much. The issues with skins and styles is still troubling.  I guess I need a faster computer with more RAM.  Since it's a work computer, I wonder what the chance is?  Haha.

 Thanks again Ken.

Although Beta 2 is not much optimized, I would like to learn more about your solution and performance problems you are seeing. Can you privide me with more information (page structure, is it a master pages, stylesheets attached, if typing is slow in source or design, etc). You can contact me at mikhaila-at-microsoft-dot-com.

Thanks
