Package Load Failure: VS HTM Editor11/20/2005 6:17:54 PM

Whenever I start VWD 2005 I get a package load failure: "Visual Studio HTM Editor Package has failed to load properly GUID {etcetera}".
OS: Windows 2000 Pro SP4 language Dutch, have used Web Matrix and Beta 2 and uninstalled with ARP.
In my WINNT\assembly subdir I have only one assembly called Microsoft.VisualStudio.Editors, with version 8.0.0.0. I've unsuccessfully tried to uninstall this assembly to try a subsequent reinstall of VWD, but no luck.
Any ideas?

Hi,

It sounds like not all binaries were uninstalled from the previous version.

Here are some uninstall instructions and uninstall tool. Please give it a try.

Thanks for  your reply.
I did all that and more, like msiinv en then msizap on anything remotely VS and SS related, but no joy.

Now going for a complete reformat of c: on my development machine and final reinstall. Seems the only way.

I resolved this issue by completely reformatting C:\, reinstalling W2K etc. and subsequently reinstalling VWD and SS. Then all package load failures were gone!

Apparantly this is the only sure way to get rid of uninstall issues on non-English Windows installations that have been "corrupted" by previous VS 8 betas and such.
