I'm just starting to use VWD Express. Supposedly, if I use a separate file (code behind) for my web forms, it should build them into a DLL into the Bin folder. However, no bin folder was automatically created when I create the project, nor when I build the website. And no DLL was placed anywhere in my website folder. How do I build the code-behind files so they would be in the bin folder???

this is a absolut normal behavior. The dll's are created in the %SystemRoot%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\[YourProjectName]

you build codebehind files to have a better overview and structur in your project and not to fill up the bin folder with dll's. If you reference your own custom libraries ore some third party libraries and they're not installed in the gac, VS put they in the bin folder.

What you mean is maybe the precompilation of the project, to publish only dll's and no codefiles. In the express edition you dont have this solution, only in the full blown VS under publish. But you can use the MSBuild.exe in the Framwork directory to precompile youre solution into dll's.

VWD Express does not compile sites into dlls. You publish Web site by simply copying everything to the destination server in source form. Server will then compile files as needed at runtime, on demand.
