Everytime I add a dropdownlist and populate it, I get:

Cannot execute a program. The command being executed was "c:\winnt\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\vbc.exe" @"c:\winnt\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\ blah blah

I've tried hours searching for this with no solutions, any help out there?

One thing to try, perhaps, is to be sure that the ASPNET account (i.e., the ASPNET process) has read/write access to the Temporary ASP.NET Files/blah path. The program not executing is the VB compiler, fwiw. Also, you might try cleaning out all the existing contents of the temp folders.

If that doesn't work, I'll see if we can find someone who might have some insights.

Thanks. One wouldn't think that all this behind the scenes tinkering would be necessary. But out of desperation, I gave my domain account privs for the wwwroot folder, and now it works. but I gave alot of folders along the way privs so it's kinda unsecured now.

You definitely should not need to give permissions to anything other than the (local) ASPNET account. Are you running Win 2003, perhaps? In that case, you need to give temp-file r/w permissions to NETWORK SERVICE.

well further tinkering revealed another revelation. My foxpro table with a memo field must have been corrupt. I rebuilt it and now it's working and do not get that error. I discovered this beofre hand by using another foxpro table in my example.
