Can´t create a new item

Help me please!!!!!
I've already installed the beta version without a problem, but when I wanted to create a new item it sent me an error : Operation could not complete!!!

why? did I miss something?????? HELP

Can you walk me through your exact repro steps?

How are you opening your website? Are you starting VWD and selecting Open WebSite, or simply opening the file outside the context of a website? example being double clicking the webform.aspx via file explorer.

Are you using File/New/File or right clicking on the website node and selecting add new item?

Is this a localhost or remote IIS website, ftp or simply a file system web.

The more you can supply about the exact steps the more likely we'll be able to narrow down the problem.

I create a file\new web site and select asp .net web site

In the solution explorer I select add new item and web form

I've already have an instance of the IIS, but I understand that the new website isn´t here yet

also I´ve been working with the visual studio V6.0 but I uninstalled it before running the new beta version.

Do I have to stop the IIS ?

well I´ve already uninstall, stop the IIS and reinstall.

then create a file\new web site
select asp. net web site

then file\add new item

select web form

and the error is operation could not be completed!!!

help me please

Can you validate that the templates items are still installed on your system. They should be under:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Web\WebProjWizards\CSharp\Items\WebForm\templates\1033

btw: are you trying to add a VB,C# or J# page?

Also with VWD you can now create webs w/o having IIS installed. This allows you to develop a site and publish it later to a remote server. When creating a new website select the File System tab and pick a folder location. VWD will launch a personal web server aka Cassini to view the pages w/o IIS.

That aside the ability to add new items is not dependent on the type of web you're creating.

So far I've not been able to repro the problem, I'll forward your description to others on the team to see if anyone else has seen this.

I'm so sorry you cannot help me. :(

If I double-click the form in the templates it is opened without errors.

Now it is a real mistery. What happens!!!!!!

When I sent this around, there were two situations known to cause this problem:

1. Missing templates from the install
2. Using VSJ# when the J# redistribution was not installed.

btw: what language are you trying to add?

Really, I didn´t use any language, because I couldn´t create any item (web form, html page, styke sheet or any other)

but finally I format my computer and reinstall the OS and also reinstall the vwdsetup package and IT WORKS

Now a can create any item. I think it was a problem between the version 6.0 of visual studio and this one or between the sql 2000 and the x-press or something like that.
