I am going through the following tutorial http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnsse/html/VWD_SSE.asp and it talks about setting a data provioder on the provider page under the Select a single provider for all site management data link and it say's that there is a add a new provider link on that page.  That is exactly what I need but mine doesn't have that link.  It creats a file for me when I set up users and secutiry rights and I want to use a database that I have already set up.  How would I do this?  Any help here would be great.

use the aspnet_regsql tool on your existing database

I have done that and I must just be retarted but how do I link up with it.  For example how do I tell my login control to use that for authentication?

it is in your connection string in web.config I don't remember exactly what you need to change. I think just setup roles and then just point that CS to your existing DB after you have run the tool I mention before.

I imagine that the connection string will go inside of the <connectionStrings> tab but what is the structure.  I have never written a connection string for vwd before.  would it look like this?

And if I do add this to my web.config how do I add users.  I tried using the administration tool after adding the previous line to the web.config and when I added a user it created the ASPNETDB.MDF file for me.  I don't want this stupid file and can't figure out how to get around it.  Can someone help me figure this out?  You would think it would be a little more straight forward as to how to set this up as I am sure most of the time you would use a server over a file.
