Hey all,

Was wondering if the old layout controls from VS 2005 (like the ability to align multiple selected items or set items to be the same size) still exists in 2008, or if that all has to be done by CSS now.  I see a toolbar in VWD 2008 for Layout, but I can't seem to get any of the controls to become active.  I also can't seem to select multiple controls (like 2 textboxes for example).  Am I just doing something wrong, or has this changed?  Thanks for the help. 

VS 2008 designer does not support multiple selection (i.e. you cannot select more than one element) and hence does not provide this functionality directly. However, you can use snap to grid to make sure controls are aligned and have same size.

 Thanks for the reply.  What's the reason this functionality was removed?  Does it conflict with the CSS functionality in some way? 

New designer in VS 2008 is completely different from VS 2005, there is absolutely no common code. New designer comes from FrontPage/Expression Web and neither product ever had multiple selection fucntionality. So the feature was not "removed", it was never there in the designer we are using now. It is a tradeoff - new designer is significantly better than the old one in many areas, but does miss couple of features that old one had. We are planning to work on adidng multiple selection in the next release (after VS 2008).
