I am using VS 2008 Team System for developing ASP.Net applications.

In the IDE when I am working with HTML source and the code behind files, I can see some space in the top right corner of the document, where the scroll bar starts. It looks like something is hidden there.
I moved the cursor there, I saw that I can extend it, and yes its the hidden thing.
Its the same copy of my code that I am working with, any changes will reflect both sides. But both the copies can have different scroll position.

I am using this feature to work code blocks. some times i need to see the code block from the same page which is at the bottom and the code that i am working is on top. In that case .. i just use these two windows... one for reference and another for editing.

But I would like to know if it is a bug or really a feature in VS 2008.

Splitting the View

A Code Editor can be split into two separate parts for easier editing.

To split a pane

1. Click the splitter bar (located above the scroll bar).
2. Drag the splitter bar downward.
3. To go back to a single pane, double-click the splitter bar dividing the two panes.

The new pane contains the same document, and any changes made to it are reflected in the other pane as long as that pane displays the same place in the document.

This is sometimes handy when you need to see code in one part of the file while editing code in another [distant] part.

This feature is not covered by any videos or articles about the new features of VS 2008.

Where can I find the list of such other features which are hidden?
 

This is a very old feature, it has been in VS at least since VS6 (aka Visual Studio 98). I don't think there is a video on this, but I am sure it is listed in a good book on VS.

 Yes this is a very old feature (and not limited to vs) Quite common in text editors, for example you can do this also in ms word, excel, etc... :)
