Why does the .sln file of a website project get saved in 'Visual Studio 2005\Projects'2/18/2008 3:50:55 PM

Hi all,

i have a bit of a problem. I am using SourceSafe within our dev team, and I want to create a website project which will also have another project, so essentially I will end up with a solution that contains two projects. My question is, why does VS insist on placing the .sln (Solution) file in the 'Visual Studio 2005\Projects' directory, which is not in the directory I created the project and is not even in my SourceSafe tree? If I was to check in the newly created project, and then some gets it from SourceSafe, then how is someone going to open the solution that I created which contains the two projects?

This really confuses me.

Hope you can help me on this.

you can create the solution where ever you want it.

I'd suggest starting with a new/blank solution and adding your projects, then check it into your source control.

But I dont get the option of where to save the .sln file. I only get the option of the folder in which to commence working on the website project.

Cheers

Hi,

To save the solution to a different location, select the solution in your solution explore > File > 'Save <your solution name> As' and specify the path of the solution.
