hi,
When I create a new website in VS 2005 Pro , VS creates two folders, 
Website1 and Website1(2) and the .sln and .suo files go into the Website1(2) 
folder.  How can I make it goto same folder?

My college teammate reported the same problem to me today. After some tries I reproduced the effect.

The problem lies in that Visual Studio 2005 tries to create the folder twice, one for the project, and secondly for the project data. Thankfully! it sees the already used/created folder and creates a folder-name (X).

When creating a so called "Web Site" (instead of project) your location should be \Visual Studio 2005\WebSites\WebSite1 and NOT \Visual Studio 2005\Projects\WebSite1, in contrast with all other projects in Visual Studio 2005 that create their project data in a sub directory of the project folder.

A Web Site is a special type, a sort of project but different (and it has no project file). The Web Site data is in the WebSites directory but since the Web Site is still part solution the solution file is stored in the equally named Web Site folder in Projects.

But what you want is possible:

Create a Web Site under the WebSites directory.
Go to WebSites and move the Web Site folder to in your solution folder under the Projects folder.
Remove the Web Site under the solution (right click the Web Site in the Solution Explorer and click remove).
Add a existing Web Site to your solution (File->Add->Existing Web Site... or right click the solution in the Solution Explorer).

NOTE: I don't know if the folder is due to website publishing or right management, etc.
