When attempting to create a new web project, VS2005 freezes and requires the task to be killed in order to free the machine.  Here are the steps being followed:

1.  Create a new web project

2.  Add a master page

3.  click on master page in solution explorer to work on it.

You get a ballon notification message in the bottom right corner of the screen stating:

Microsoft Visual Studio is busy

Visual stuio is busy doing some type of internal process....If this continues, please contact Micrsoft.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or does anyone else have a work around or solution.

I can do a Windows Forms project, but not a Web Project.

No solution, but I have the same problem.  When I open my web project, I can build the project and run it, but when I open the code page for the Master page it does the same thing that you described with the balloon saying 'Microsoft Visual Studio is busy'.  Then I can't even right click on the balloon and view the options, the context menu disappears too fast.  If anyone has a solution, HELP!

I agree with the other poster in that it sounds like IIS is having trouble. Ununstall and Reinstall off IIS would be my first start at solving this. After that from the command line, in your:

D:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50...

directory issue

 aspnet_regiis.exe -i

to reinstall the scripts for IIS and ASP.NET

In the case that it does not remedy your issue I would suggest temorarily disabling popup blockers as well as spyware and virus checkers (you may want to disconnect your network cable or internet connection temporarily when doing this to prevent malicious behaviour from the net - just a safety note as I am a bit paranoid about asking people to do this - especially since I do not know your corporate policies).
