Visual Studio 2005 pops up norton antivirus to scan a gif file

I was testing Contacts project, one of ASP.NET AJAX Sample Applications. Visual Studio 2005 popped up norton antivirus window to scan header.gif instead of opening it, when I double-clicked it on Solution Explorer tab. But I had already turned off norton antivirus. What was goging on and how can I fix it ?

If you can live without it, uninstalling Norton completely will correct the problem. I could suggest an alternative, free antivirus if needed.
