MSB3021 Copying error

(I was redirected to this site by the guys at the msdn msbuild forum.)

I've been using msbuild (.net 2.0) to build my VS.NET sln. The solution contains a number of projects including a web project. Unfortunately the .dlls are not getting copied to the web projects bin folder. For some reason access is denied to this folder. This is an example of the error:

[exec] Build FAILED.
[exec] C:\VSAB\ReleaseBuilder\AutoBuild\VSAB.sln : error MSB3021: Unable to copy file "C:\VSAB\ReleaseBuilder\AutoBuild\Plugins\SubmissionPacksSqlPersistenceProviderPlugin\bin\Release\Siberix.PDF.dll" to "Frameworks\SubmissionFramework\\Bin\Siberix.PDF.dll". Access to the path 'Frameworks\SubmissionFramework\\Bin\Siberix.PDF.dll' is denied.

Any ideas as to why?

Also,
Notice the two backslashes before the destination bin folder, all other succesful copying tasks don't seem to have this, does it make a difference? Why does it put in these two backslashes?

Did you ever find the answer? I'm having similar problems, but, in my case, it appears to be only with xml files (dll's are copied without error).

I followed your original post from the msdn build forum with high hopes. Any feedback is much appreciated.

I'm also getting this build error on various xml documentation files from other projects. Any luck finding a solution? The only workaround I've found is closing and reopening VS, but since I have 19 projects in my solution, it takes more time than I'd like ...

I've read that this can be caused by the destination xml file being under source control and therefore read only when not checked out, but this is not the case in my situation. Still looking ...
