Intellisense/Controls Issues2/11/2007 12:46:22 AM

Hi,

I am having a couple of troubles with intellisense and controls.

 
When I go into my code-behing page (for any of my aspx classes), and select the drop down menu to the top left, (to display the pages controls), nothing appears there, no labels, textboxes, drop down lists, nothing which I have in the page. Also, in my codebehind page, intellisense is not working for these controls.

 

Could anyone offer any advice as to why this could possibly be?

Are you using Laser Mouse by any change or maybe running PowerDVD launcher?

Hi, 

Please check the settings of IntelliSense. You can see the settings from Tools/Options in the main menu. Then select TextEditor/<Language>/IntelliSense from the left TreeView. You will see the settings at the right.

When you open Document Outline (View | Other Windows | Document Outline) - is it populated?

No, it does not come in the Document Outline Window.

Did you try re-installing .NET ?

If Document Outline is empty this means some application installed on your machine keeps broadcasting messages to all windows in the system preventing applications from entering idle processing states. VS heavily depends on idle time processing (this is not the same as background threads). Try disabling resident applications that launch at startup and see switching off one of them fixes the issue. With MS Laser Mouse there was a bug in the mouse driver (update is available now). I guess some wireless mice may also have similar problem. One of the side effects of breaking idle processing is that machine may never go to sleep no matter how long it left unused.
