error installing any starter kit

I have fresh install of VS2005 sp1 on fresh install of server 2003 sp2. I can't get the installer to get past final part. I get error message

"Installation stopped because the directory for the ProjectType value did not exist. The project type is invalid for your installation of Visual Studio"

and it fails. I did have problems getting install of VSsp1 and had to install WindowServer 2003 -KB925336-x86-ENU hotfix. How can I fix this? Can I take template off xp machine in template area or does it install other code elsewhere?

Hi jdm4tdx1,

Please check if these four folders exist in your machine. Create or modify them to the correct names.

C:\Documents and Settings\your name\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Templates\ItemTemplates\Visual C#

C:\Documents and Settings\your name\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Templates\ItemTemplates\Visual Web Developer

C:\Documents and Settings\your name\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Templates\ProjectTemplates\Visual C#

C:\Documents and Settings\your name\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Templates\ProjectTemplates\Visual Web Developer

The information above is for C# templates. If you install other languages of starter kit, please check their own folders.
