Asp.Net User
web application extension packaging7/8/2004 1:05:13 AM

I'm working on a plugin or extension to .Text. I've downloaded the source for .Text which includes 4 dlls that are produced from the source. This builds and runs fine using VS.NET 2003 and asp.net 1.1.

Now I'd like to make my own user control (either a cs only type control or an ascx type control) that references the .Text dll's. This seems okay, since I add a reference in my new project to the .Text projects. Everything builds fine using a cs type user control.

Now one of the original .Text projects is the actual web site. Inside it I have an aspx page that I'd like to add my new control to. However the designer won't let me drag it from the tool box (after I added it to the components part). If I create the control manually in html, it works fine on the page since all the dlls are in the web's bin directory and everything can resolve.

Am I going about this the wrong way? I'd like to be able to package my extensions to .Text as separate dll's so others won't have to compile them up. However, if they want to use my controls in the designer I have this sort of circular reference. What's the best way to go about packaging up controls in this situation where I am dependent on the project that I want to add my control to.

Thanks
