Problem with installing MSDE 20008/4/2003 4:14:16 AM

I've already downloaded MSDE 2000 sp3a. I've run the application but when I go to Command Prompt & type Setup SAPWD=myPassword SecurityMode=SQL, I got this error message: The instance name specified is invalid.
I've tried a few times & the same error occurred.

there is a setup.ini file that you must edit before you run the install

lets say you want your SAPWD to be "doggy"

inside the setup.ini file (edit it with notepad):

SAPWD=doggy

(this should completely fix your problem.. ive had the same problem before)
