Hello All,

After customising the portal considerably, changing existing modules, adding new modules and generally changing the appearance of the portal, all that needs to be done now is make the portal our own.

I would like to change the namespace from ASPNET.StarterKit.Portal to HCMA.Intranet.Main. Why the Main, there wil be a number of web apps that will be accessed through the main Intranet such as HCMA.Intranet.ComponentRepair, HCMA.Intranet.RootCause etc. so I figured this to be a sensible means of defining the relevant namespaces.

How? Is it as simple as doing a Search and Repalce in files?

And then I need to Install the Intranet in the root directory (wwwroot) on the production IIS Server. I guess this would be best achieved by creating a web setup project in the Setup & Deployment projects wizard library. Or is this going to cause problems with reference to specific directories within the application??

Has anyone used these options to achieve a final result that I am looking for? Can you give me any tips and hints if you have successfully converted the portal to YOUR portal...

Yes, you can change the namespace

I used the word Core for core portal functionality namespaces, i.e. MyCompany.Portal.Core

I'd use windows search feature and a good editor like ultraedit to do the search/replace. You cant use VS.ide cuz it wont let you edit some of the requisite files.

I used VS with the choice to find/replace within files in the project and it worked just fine! It works fine at my localhost but I am having trouble to run it on the server. I am getting an error on the global.asax file like:

Server Error in '/kojokente' Application.

I havn't been using the Starter Kits, but I have been building VS projects for a little while now and I have had similar problems with my applications. If you think everthing was copied correctly, then you could try removing the cache and recompiling the application. This has worked for me when I changed the name of some of my classes. Hope this helps.

Yes, everything was copied correctly. Now how do I remove the caching? Are you talking about removing the _vti_ subdirectories or the .resx files (or both)?
