Can install Portal Starter Kit successfully. When attempting to load Portal Source Project it fails with missing component. Running Windows 2000 Server, IIS, .Net Framework 1.1, SQL Server, .... What else is there?

This used to happen all the time with the setup for IBS. You could always just setup manually. Create a virtual directory, create the database and run the scripts in Query analyzer and then change the web.config to reference your database.

Have tried this. But errors using the database script.

1) Create Virtual directory using ISS called Portal
2) Used db script to create db and failed b/c no db. Manually created DB and script hangs.

Would appreciate any suggestions.

Problem resolved. For some reason if one creates SQL Server without a default instance, the installation process will fail using the message that a component is missing although the log file could detect the presence of the SQL database.

Would like to know why it fails. If anyone knows please post an explaination.
