Has anyone else run into this error? I'm using the C# version of the Portal ... PortalCSVS in visual studio.net 2003.

My source control app is SourceGear's Vault. In vs.net I can create solutions and projects and add them to source control with no problems. But when I try to add the PortalCSVS solution to source control I get the following error:


"The solution file 'C:\Program Files\ASP.NET Starter Kits\ASP.NET Portal(CSVS)\ASP.NET Portal Starter Kit (CSVS).sln' was not written successfully. Check that the location is available, the file is writeable and there is enough room on the disk."


The location is available. The file is not write protected and I have 20GB of free space on my C: drive. I also checked the permissions and this solution file has the same permissions as the other solutions I have created from scratch.

Not sure why but the .sln is installed with the system attribute set. Try attrib -s on the .sln to see if that'll let you add it to source control.

I'm running Windows XP Professional and for some reason the cd and chdir dos commands won't allow me to navigate into a directory where the name contains a space. I can "cd \InetPub" but I can't "cd \Program Files".

I get a "too many parameters - files" error. Where " - files" is the word that appears after the space in the name.

I realize that dos is an afterthought in WinXP, but surely this should still work. The help entry for cd and chdir state that I can use spaces and that I don't have to enclose the path in quotes. But it doesn't actually work.

Is there another way I can change the system attribute?

You can do this by using double quotes: cd c:\"program files". On WinXP, you can use statement completion by typing c:\pr and then tab to cycle through all of the files and directories that start with pr. Its pretty handy.
