Can anyone describe generally the steps needed to add a new desktop module to the portal?

1. Create a new Magule's SourceCode pages *.ascx, *.aspx, *.vb (for VB)
2. Go to Admin page and click to "Add New Module Type" link
3. Fill out the "Module Type Definition" form
4. Click "Update"
5. The new module should appier at "Admin" page ready to use.

Did u manage to add the module successfully?
i tried, but, there is an error
do u know what's wrong?

wHAT SOFTWARE YOU USING? If you have Visual Studio.net and working locally in there--you should be fine, but it seams like you just uploaded a new MilestonesDB.vb file to component folder and trying to create an instance of this new class. It is not going to happen untill you will restart web-site.

I have installed a custom photo display module but I continue to get an error saying that the module can not be loaded. I have follewd the author's instuctions and while it works well on his site. I get the following message;

Parser Error Message: Could not load type 'ASPNET.StarterKit.Portal.RealEstate'.

I have reached the same stage as SheVen and understand that the code I added for my data access layer component (as explained in the white paper) must now somehow be compiled into \ registered with the ASPNET.StarterKit.Portal assembly.
Alex3wworld implies that I can do this by restarting the web site. What does this mean exactly? I just tried this in the IIS mmc plugin and it made no difference.

I also have the same problem. I downloaded the free module hangman, but I had to change some text in the vb-file to make it link right. But I only have a texteditor, no Visual Studio, so I can't compile the solution. I have tried to restart the IIS but I still get the error:

"Could not load type 'ASPNET.StarterKit.Portal.hangman_module'"

Line 1:  <%@ Control Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" Codebehind="hangman_module.ascx.vb" Inherits="ASPNET.StarterKit.Portal.hangman_module"%>

Anyone have any idea of how I could make it work?
