I am running VS 2005, XP Pro, without SQL Server.  I opened the 'Create A Personal Web Site' ... everything appears okay, with a clean compile reported ... Ctrl F5 or F5 both result in a Server Error.  When I do a simple page without a database call, all is well ... I haven't reconfigured anything ... any suggestions on how I can determine what is wrong? 

This is the first line of the error:  Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. 

The stack shows:  most of the lines include the statement 'no symbols added' ???

My guess is something is set wrong ...

I think that you might need to install SQL Express in order to run starter kits.

Please anyone correct me if i'm wrong.

Hi ronnyr ... accourding to the documentation, the internal server should be handling everything (it comes up).  I've been fighting this for over a week, and have loaded and unloaded VS 2005 (full version), Web Designer Express, SQL Server Express, and SQL Server 2005 ... all in every combination possible ... and with complete removal between tries ... the only consistency is the error!

Very frustrated ... in the past I've been connected to a CSUF MSSQL Server remotely on this computer ... and I wonder if there is something somewhere telling it to hook to that?????
