PWS asking for username and password :-(

I set up my PWS after a fair amount of striggling and help from Jeremy. I was pleased with how it looked and went show it tome son and lo and behold I am now being prompted for a username and password. This is new behavoir. Does anyone know wehre it comes from? I have included a screen shot of the prompt below.

That's very strange. I wouldn't enter anything in that dialog until you know where it's coming from.

Looks like you might be using windows authentication instead of forms authentication. Do you have this line in your web.config?

You should probably ask your hosting provider about the login prompt. It might mean that permissions are not set up properly on on your website.

I am the hosting provider. Embarrassed

It is running on my server. The ironic thing is I setup six websites. One for each of my kids and one for me. Four of them seem to be working fine. Two are acting really weird. I am going to reload the two funky ones and see what happens. I am getting either the prompt for login or SERVER APPLICATION UNAVAILABLE errors.

If you get the SERVER APPLICATION UNAVAILABLE in big bold red letters it could be a .NET version issue, you might want to make sure that the version of .NET is ASP.NET 2.0 for the boned sites. As for the password popup, are you trying to access folders outside of the web site or have you set up a virtual folder that points outside of the IIS folders. If so you will need to give the proper permissions to the account that is setup to run each we site the permissions to access those resources.

I got it fixed, but I now have a question. Is there away to change a user's password?

By the way, the problem seemed to be related to my trying to update the page from the VS2005 publish tool.
