I used the personal homepage starter kit as the basis for my site. Now I need to incorporate payment functionality but want to keep it to the minimum. I created a PayPal button on their website but can't get it to work. Also even if it would work, how would I change the amount - Hidden field8?

So here is what I need, maybe somebody can get me started:

- I know the quantity and can calculate the total amount - how to I put it into the field?
- I like to tell the user the total amount and then want him to click on the PayPal button.
- Once I get the PayPal confirmation - return link I suppose? - he can continue to the next page

I looked around but all I can find are massive modules, or hundreds of lines of code - Overkill. I can't believe that there isn't an easy solution to this.

Can somebody help?

You didn't mention that you had looked into the Pay-Pal enabled eCommerce site kit or maybe you have and that's the code you have been looking at.  You can find it here http://www.asp.net/default.aspx?tabindex=5&tabid=41#PAY.  You will have to implement the Commerce.PaymentProvider as well as the Pay Pal API for the most part I would imagine to some degree.

I actually did look at the Commerce starter kit and while I might use it at a later stage it seems total overkill right now. Also it would have a steep learning curve for me and I don't have the time right now. I need to get soo many other things done, too. ;)

Here's an idea:

Couldn't I just call an regular HTML page from my portal (I post to it) and from the HTML request the amount. Once I have the amount everything should work fine, right?

I know it's not a 'clean' solution but all I need is an Express button.

nothing here? I can't believe it is so complex to get a simple Express Payment button in.

If I understand correctly what you are trying to do, you should be able to slap a button on whatever page you want for example the Default.aspx page of the Personal Web Site Kit.

If your wanting to allow the user to enter quantity then you will need a textbox for quantity. Then you could add some javascript that handles your button click and sets the quantity input field value with the quantity in the textbox.
