I'm creating an intranet with an XmlSiteMapProvider. Some of the URLs are external links that need to open in a new window because people here aren't computer savvy and they wouldn't know how to do it themselves. But the standard target="_blank" doesn't seem to work. What does?

Hello, i guess adding an attribute to a siteMapNode doesn't imply any usage upon rendering. It's up to your code to retrieve that attribute and use it as needed...

Feel free to go into more details.

Well, it depends on how you are "consuming" the site map. How are you generating the links? Can you show some code?

Sorry, i've never used a TreeView up to now. By reading documentation, i guess you need the TreeNodeBinding.TargetField property. Here is the relevant links:
