How to access a control in master page?

Hello,

The pages on my web site use a master page.
In my master page I have an Asp:Image.
The Asp:Image has the same properties and position in all pages which is defined in my master page.

However in each page I need to change the ImageUrl.
How can I do this?

You can create a public property on the master page.

Master Page

public string ImagePath
{
   get
   {
      EnsureChildControls();
      return someImage.ImageUrl;
   }
   set
   {
      EnsureChildControls();
      someImage.ImageUrl = value;
   }
}

Content Page

<%@ MasterType VirtualPath="~/PathToMaster/Master.master" %>

((MasterClassName)this.Master).ImagePath = "SomePathHere/image.jpg";

I've never seen EnsureChildControls() used in the context of a MasterPage. What does it ensure in this context?

EnsureChildControls() checks that a control contains child controls and if not creates them. I just make it a habbit to call that method when returning or setting the value of any control in a getter/setter to ensure that it's been created.
