Hi,

When I create a class or style that is added to the tag of say a div, it seems fine (i.e. position = absolute), but then when I drag the div around to reposition it, the class or style is replace by a generic style1 or style2 etc.

Is this expected behaviour? Can you not modify the css by dragging the element to wheree you want? Must you only do it by code?

Thanks for any ideas on this

hi!

if you use VS2005, view any page in Design mode, then from main menu select Layout->Position->Auto position options, and then in dialog select first checkbox and select Absolutely positioned.

Thanks Som but acutally the issue wasn't that I couldn't get the control in absolute positioning, (that was fine), the problem was that the tag styles would change when I moved them in absolute mode.

 

I found the solution:

Tools> Options > CSS Styling: Change Style application Mode from Auto to Manual

In auto, it automatically creates a style for you whenever you modify an element (by moving its position for example). When it creates this automatic style, it deletes the current style that you may have created & replaces it with a generically named style (Style1, Style2, Stylen etc.). Very annoying!

Manual does just that, it allows you to manually create styles, name classes & modify those classes either with the gui or the format menu or in code. It doesn't change the name of the style, whether its an element or class style.

 Ah, also, if you are using class, you must use CssClass. class will be replaced by CssClass. Be careful!
