'asp' unrecognized tag prefix in ContentPage code12/12/2005 7:26:56 PM

0/0

I'm having a problem with the <asp: prefix not being recognized.  I can?t even compile where I was able to do so before.  This is happening in a ContentPage for a subnested MasterPage (which, by subnested, I mean the MasterPage itself is a ContentPage for another MasterPage).  Anyhow, if I copy my code out and paste it into a blank webform between the <form> tags, no problems.

Other's have had this problem in pre-release versions of VS2005.  I have a released version and I've never installed any of the pre-releases so this machine is clean.

Please help me with this because it's hampering my productivity and I'm going to drift off soon and start playing games and stop being paid, then starve and become homeless.  Help!

Brian

I am also confused that with VS Express Edition and nested-master based content pages do not validate asp controls/tags. Has anyone found the resolution to this?

Here's a link to a bug report on this at the MSDN Product Feedback Center.  Hopefully they'll find a better workaround other than just keeping the parent .master file open in the IDE while working on hit's child content page.

beaudetious kindly pointed out to me that if the parent .master page is open, intellisense for asp tags is normally reinstated. Works for me.
