I just finished setting up a treeview using abc.xml as its source. In the design view the control displays a message: "Error creating Treeview1" but it runs well! I want to navigate to pages within and outside of the current site through the click of any child node. I switched into the code editor but could not see the control name listed among available objects not to talk of its events! What do I do to resolve this? Any link to any useful resource. I've read msdn site and followed the steps therein but the above message appears to be the bottleneck. Pls help!

Hi Everyone,

I did some twists that worked wonders for me yesterday night. I feel I need to share it with other guys here.

On "Error creating treeview1" I manually set reference to Microsoft.Web.UI.Webcontrols.dll and that resolved it.

For problem two I mofified my abc.xml file to look like the one below.

<treenode Text="HP" Type="File" NavigateUrl="http://www.hp.com" Target="_blank" />
<treenode Text="DELL" Type="File" NavigateUrl="http://www.dell.com" Target="_blank" />
<treenode Text="IBM" Type="File" NavigateUrl="http://www.ibm.com" Target="_blank" />
</treenode>
<treenode Text="Software" Type="Folder">
<treenode Text="Microsoft" Type="File" NavigateUrl="http://www.microsoft.com" Target="_blank" />
<treenode Text="Oracle" Type="File" NavigateUrl="http://www.oracle.com" Target="_blank" />
<treenode Text="Sun" Type="File" NavigateUrl="http://www.sun.com" Target="_blank" />
</treenode>
</treenode>

I did not need to code anything special behind my webform beyond editing the html source to read the abc.xml file. When any of the type file nodes is clicked a new window is opened for the indicated url. That is the effect of putting Target = "_blank".

It worked for me and I'm excited with the simplicity of the solution.
