i want to send mail from my asp.net application.i know tht with the help of mailmessage and smtpclient class we can do coding to send mail

but i want to know how to configure and what are the requirements to send mail like

do we require a SMTP server

then what is the Default SMTP virtual server used for

plz help on how to configure and send mail
