Hey guys,

I know there is already a thread about this, but I really need some more current imput. I just dropped www.dotnetpark.com, and I am looking for a new host. I am narrowed down to three and need to make a decision pronto! But are there better ones? What are the core members using for their personal sites? What is everyone else using?

Really need input here. The three I have found are:

1. Webhost4life.com - here it is not as fast, but okay support: good price
2. tacticalsystems.com - seems fast. what about support?: good price
3. infuseweb.com - very fast, great support: more expensive.

I dropped DNP because they were too slow. I have a couple of people on that host, and they are crawling! I also use infuseweb.com (under a friends reseller account) for one site and it screams. I wish Infuseweb would make more friendly DNN packages, because with them, you can install the db and db user in Helm, change the web.config, upload the files and bingo! No need to ask to set permissions.

But I don't want to pay for the price to get sql, and I don't want to become a reseller. So i guess it is between webhost4life and TS.

I have the whole gammon with WH4L, Dedi, semi and shared. I have been happy with the shared solution and Very happy with both the dedi and semi-dedi.

Support and service have been outstanding in all cases.

I've got a couple of accounts on whfl, and with a couple of other hosts. This morning, I did some download testing on the three services (due to perceived slow site response). whfl consistently had download times in the 35-40k range, while discountasp.net had download times consistently exceeding 200k during the same timeframe. I iterated testing between the hosts.

A friend noted similar download times with whfl, and said that he was getting over 200k downloads using his account with boundgrid.com. They have a nice package and price, and a decent control panel. Does any have any experience with boundgrid? Also, can others post their downlod times with whfl to validate (or invalidate) the results we got today.

I've been with TS for a little over a year and have no complaints.

Their 24/7 support they just implemented isn't too bad either.

I've got shared hosting at WH4L and have been happy - good support (to me anyway) and it's great value. The speed worries me, it seems to fluctuate a lot and is probably a function of so many apps per server.

DotPacket looks like a great deal, the problems is you don't know until you actually use them for a while. I also have a maximumasp account which costs about the same for a month as WH4L is for a year, but it's worth it if you need top grade service.

I have a shared plan with www.crystaltech.com with which I'm very happy although I haven't anything more than a subjective feel for download speed.

Their support is excellent and in the last 6 months I haven't had any real problems. I've just added a staging area with their developer plan, definately good value.
They advertise a dotnetnuke install option, although I've not used it.

I know that DotNetNuke is running from Maximum ASP - have you looked at their plans from the DNN site - I know they would have looked around before making these decisions.

I'm looking for hosting myself. While datapacket.net looks awesome, I read a number of reviews/flames in forums complaining about not being able to get in contact with their support when their sites were down. I'm not just talking days, sometimes it was weeks. I just tried their online chat system and waited for an hour or so and no one answered. Just my recommendation, but I'd stay clear of datapacket.net :)
UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not!

I use www.franklandhosting.com and have been astounded by the speed of service, their automated DNN installer, quick migration to DNN 3 and very attractive pricing.

I have no financial interest in the company...just really like what they're doing at frankland.com.

Just to throw someone new into the mix, Boundgrid Technologies has treated me just great over the last 12 months.

Not the cheapest but definately a decent price.  What I like most is that you can truly host an unlimited number of domains there.  Not just sub domains, I mean real domains with full setup and all.

(BTW, I am only a customer and not in business with them in any way.)

I had a WHFL account and I didn't have any problems but it was slow.

Another good host is JodoHost.
