Problems with Swedish characters when parsing a skip package

In my skin i have a footer with some static text that includes Swedish characters "?" an "o" with two dots on top. When the skin package is parsed the resulting .ascx-file has truncated the character.

Any idea on how to correct this? Do i have to state som charset or codepage somewhere or is this a problem with the skin package parser?

John, does it help when you turn friendly urls off?

I know there has been discussion in with the core team and friendly urls and the type of problem you are experiencing. Perhaps one of the core team members working in this area can shed more light on whether this is has been resolved.

And I know it's not really a solution, but for now, perhaps changing the names might help until it's resolved.

My solution to get it to work

Hello John,

In my DotNetNuke directory I changed web.config, in this section:

Default:
<globalization culture="en-US" uiCulture="en" requestEncoding="UTF-8" responseEncoding="UTF-8" fileEncoding="UTF-8" />

I changed it to this:
<globalization culture="sv-SE" uiCulture="sv" requestEncoding="iso-8859-1" responseEncoding="iso-8859-1" fileEncoding="iso-8859-1" />

After I did this, I got my ?,?,? to work with the skin.

I am not sure, if switching from Unicode to ASCII encoding is really a good idea - you migh encounter other problems. Have you checkd before, that your skin.html files are saves as UTF-8? otherwise the skin parser, that generates unicode ascx files might have a problem.
