I have hosted a site (www.streetbankers.com) at webhost4life for about 7 months. The site always seems slow to me, but they say it is due to my network. It is slow at work and at home (I have access through my cable company).

I would appreciate the community's feedback.

After the initial load I don't think it is too bad. It could be a bit faster but I don't think it is anything to be too concerned with.

4 seconds for initial app compilation and load, and it's fast after that. A few of the pages under services(nationwide weather & directions) are slower, but as they're gathering content from external sites & weather has 10 module instances, I'm not surprised (you should consider setting a cache value to speed up if you haven't already). Sitemap also has a slight delay, but as you're loading a new javascript tree view and populating it, that's more than acceptable.

when i first visited your site, it was a bit slow, like cathal said for the initial load. If you want to keep your site running try one of the following services:

52 seconds for it to load. About 10 seconds to indicate it was opening, about 35 seconds with no activity indicated and the balance to load.

Way slow for me, just tried it so use the time of this post as your time indicator.

Thanks for everyone's feedback.

I have keepalive already installed. I bought it months ago and it was one of the many modules that my programmer installed for me. However, he has moved on to other things and I am not sure how to set it up. Do I just insert it on a page like any other module?

Does anyone have any feedback on how good Keep Alive is? Does it only work when the home page is loaded or for all other pages as well?

The site looks pretty responsive to me.

I just hit it with about 93 requests and received an average of 1.94 requests/second through it with a 155.38 ms average time to first byte, 455.27 ms average time to last byte.

Just tried your site all the way from Australia where we use tin cans and string for connecting. It loaded straightaway no probs. But I also have a WH4L account and I must say that I have got worried about the slow performance with them to a point where I wasn't putting any paid for (client sites) with them. There were also frequent outages.

After a bit of dialogue (which went nowhere) my situation has now changed to a pretty good performance with WH4L. I think it comes down to paying a budget price which means having a lot of other guys on the same server. If one of them has a problem app/script then everyone gets affected.

I guess you pays your money and you takes your choice..

From memory you install it like any other custom module - say on your home tab. It doesn't show up to visitors but basically refreshes itself every 15-mins or whatever the setting is.

The idea is to keep your application going because asp.net tries to conserve server resources by shutting down processes when they have been idle for a while. This means that a site with low traffic might see an effect where it seems to take a long time to load up because the application is re-starting itself.
