Need to set up a DNN portal for a client, but the hosting company I use most often doesn't support DNN.

Can anyone provide the names of good hosting companies that support DNN setups? (Can't find info about this in forums or at dotnetnuke.com.)

Thanks.

www.dotnetpark.com is the best one. They are DotNetNuke gurus. You can install DotNetNuke in 2-3 clicks with their control panel (and the control panel is made with DotNetNuke).

I'm very pleased with DotNetPark. I recently switched to them from 1&1.

They support DNN, and SharePoint. I use both with them and they're great.

I'm using one of their minimal packages, but I'm getting a lot more than I was expecting. I'm paying $70/year, vs the $60/year package I had with 1&1.

For that I get:
* Hosting for 5 domains
* A much better webmail feature
* SharePoint and DNN support (no extra cost) - 30 users
* Much simpler site/user management
* Much simpler email configuration

Their support is great too. My email (my preferred method) questions get answered within a few hours. They also have techs on IM.

I use webhost4life for my site and my client site.  The nice this is if you have a site with them you can setup your client site as referrals for you and get some extra money.  With 4-5 referral you can get your hosting paid for.  If you do choose Webhost4Life use the link so I get the refferal.  You can also check out the 2 sites have running with them and see the uptime for the sites.

Yes, we provide 30 SharePoint accounts, but you can have an unlimited number of users in your DNN portal.

We also give our customers an ability to earn money with our reseller program. Moreover, we have the best control panel out there which is itself based on DotNetNuke and can install DNN portals to user web sites with a single click!

Feodor,

I had been to your site but thought the DotNetPark was a solution.app for hosting companies and did not realise you also did hosting.  Can you please send me information on your hosting packages (and what you get with package, machine specs for server that will be used, etc) and reseller program.  I am pleased with WH4L but might setup a personal web site using you just to see how good the DNN based control panel is.  Also any referrals you have on your hosting uptime, speed, etc would also be great.  You can send the information to [email protected]

Thanks,

I have had miss-adventures with hosting companies some of which are mentioned in reply to your post. The issues that I have had are around support, lack of knowledge about DNN and half-truths in advertising. The best support and knowledge tof DNN that I have found is http://www.resellerchoice.com/ .

I don't know about what companies you guys are talking about, but we here at DotNetPark are real DotNetNuke experts and we are really proud of it. Both our sites http://dotnetpark.com and http://dotnetpanel.com are based on DotNetNuke and empowered with our own custom modules. Our hosting management solution DotNetPanel is also based on DotNetNuke http://demo.dotnetpanel.com. Thousands of our customers are having DotNetNuke installed on their web sites and every day we solve dozens of tickets related to DotNetNuke. We have made a bet on DotNetNuke in our business and we are very successive with our choice!

Regarding quality of our support I suggest you to take a look on real customer reviews http://www.123aspx.com/ReadReviews.aspx?res=30363

If you are looking for a great company to handle the servers for you I recommend www.fullcontrol.net. All they do are dedicated hosting accounts and I have been very successful with them. All of my clients I host I do on a server at Full Control. They are very quick to respond and very knowledgeable. If you are looking for your own server to host accounts on I highly recommend these people.

Correct me if I'm wrong but DotNetPark does not support SQL 2005, which is quite annoying in the case of DNN 4.0.2 websites.

As for Resellerchoice, I can read:
"You can easly upload all current versions of DotNetNuke, 2.x, 3.0 or run your own custom dnn version."
Great! I'll downgrade to 1.0.10e, just to be sure!

Perhaps they do a good job. Perhaps not.

Is there a single website (or sub-forum) where we could share opinions about DotNetNuke ISPs?
Why not adding a sub-category here?

DNN 4.0.2 will run with SQL 2000 or SQL 2005, so that should not be an issue with any hosting company as long as they support .Net 2.0.  At this time DNN 4.0.?? does not have any features that take advantage of any SQL 2005 specific features.

1) "At this time DNN 4.0.?? does not have any features that take advantage of any SQL 2005 specific features."

Yes. But Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition has integrated access to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express. Can you assure me, smehaffie, that any DNN 4.0.2 website developped under this environment will behave the same way with SQL 2000? (ie. datetime handling, sprocs)
Question is not only about DNN itself but also about modules refering to SQL 2k connection strings, for instance.

2) And don't you think that http://www.dotnetnuke.com/tabid/702/Default.aspx is a bit short to choose the right DNN ISP?
As deployment of our DNN websites is the final aim in most cases, what do you think about a "DNN Hosting" sub-forum here?

1) Yes, Unless you use a module that uses SQL 2005 specific features, DNN 4.02 will work with SQL 2000 or SQL 2005 (No problems).  The core SProcs and core module SProcs do not have take advantage of any of the new SQL 2005 features, so they will work the same in either database.  Until the time that we do implemement features that take advantage of new SQL 2005 features you have the option to use either database with DNN 4.??  As a matter of fact you can run 3.?? using SQL 2005 / SQL Express.

Thanks for your reply.
I see at least one difference between SQL 2k and SQL 2k5: there is no dbo.GetList sproc in my DNN 4.0.2 / SQL Express environment (http://forums.asp.net/1161894/ShowPost.aspx).
Hoping it's the only one...
