Anyone know of good DNN Hosting?1/4/2005 2:46:46 PM

0/0

I am looking for a good DNN host.

Can anyone refer any?

Preferrably something reliable and inexpensive.
I have several sites that I webmaster for some that are 501c3 orginizations.
( The 501c3 orginizations I don't charge )

I am wanting to have host previledges so I can run several DNN portals.

I am currently using DNN 212 and looking to move to DNN 3 when it's ready for production.

TIA

Firstly, please check the forum this topic has been discussed before.

I'm using both WebSecureStores and ResellerChoice. With ResellerChoice I was able to set up a service for non-profit community groups at $5 a month. Both have good DNN support.

If you are just concered about low cost and don't care about insanely long load times and a support staff who's standard answer is 'it looks good on our end'. Then go for webhost4life. I have been moving everything I have off their servers and on to websecurestores.com. Ton's happier. Those guys all run DNN sites and know how to fix things.
A lot of people are moving away from WH4L, and to other solutions like websecurestores, and I have heard good things about maximumasp as well.

What I like about webhost4life is the control panel, the fact that you can have 4 sql databases to a $79/month plan and they also allow subdomains. I'm sure maximumasp is far better but the initial question concerned the need to host a couple of sites for nothing so I don't think that a $200/month plan would be suitable and also if you only have a couple of pilgrims visiting your site every day you don't have the same requirements as cnn.com.

One of my sites has several hundreds of hits per day (around 800), while the others average a couple of hundred hits per day.

I currently only have 7 sites, with hopes of getting around 20.

Crystaltech now has an automated DNN installer .... subdomains are automatic.. they have a *.domain alias setup. I think that is ok for DNN ...

The only issue is installing in the root and using child portals but they will work with you on that....

Just a follow up to this thread.....

I talked with Conrad at Frankland Hosting and found him to be extremely accommidating.

Other than the monthly fees, which are extremely reasonable, everything else is free!

I recommend them highly...

Have a look at http://submit.e-xpress.ca and http://portals.my-asp.net for some options.

You get dynamic hosting(with a service guarantee, DotnetNuke documentation, SEO marketing guides, Advertising opportunities, Skins, Skin Design tutorials, new revenue streams, specialized DotNetNuke support and more.

Bargin price hosting isn't always the most inexpensive solution.

Hi

My point is that you cannot damn someone for what you see as a single example of a poor response to a request - I really can't knock webhost4life OVERALL .... in my humble experience.

After a very bad experience with Tactical Systems, I found the ideal host in Infuseweb.com.
While I would wait days for a reply from Tactical Systems, Infuseweb was back wihin 10 minutes. Both have the Helm Control Panel so you can set yourself up as reseller/host and manage as many Web sites as you wish at a very nominal cost. Tony, at Infuseweb helped set up DNN 2.1.2 for me and made it very simple.

This is the first host that I felt a personal connection with, and it is wonderful after being treated like a non-human by all the others. Also, his Website is flush with service helps such as a special Reseller Support Area, Support Forums, Downloads, Knowledge Base, Online Tutorials, and much more. After reviewing a number of threads in his various forums, and after receiving the excellent follow through when I was asking questions of the sales department, I knew Infuseweb was the one I wanted to host my sites.

As far as I know, Infuseweb does not have an affiliate program so I am not receiving anything for making the above statements.

Check them out. I am feeling very satified right now that I was fortunate enough to find them.

Understood, Patrick, and I fully expect occassional unreliablity from a shared enviroment-- especially with a bargain host.

However, in total, I've had 4 sites on WH4L, and have had to move all but this last one for reliability reasons. My experience with them has only been for about a year, but in all cases, I found them to never come close to their 99.9% uptime guarantee, and technical support has never answered my questions with anything other than "try it now". That's the reason I set up the watchdog. They seemed to not believe me because it always "seems to be fine to us".

I've read many other reports from other users with experiences similar to mine, so for myself, I can't get off their machines fast enough. I get paged enough as it is. :)

Hey Tia,
Depending on your specific requirements we can set you up with DNN hosting relitively cheap  We have a couple of sites I'm hosting for various organizations - my base pricing starts at about $10/mo, I do nightly backups and I provide a SQL server, also I don't enforce a hard limit on your usage.

You can definately have host permissions as that is something we let all our clients.  If you're interested, shoot me an email at [email protected] and I'll see what I can hook you up with.
