I installed my firsts DNN 2.1.2, for testing the app to see what it is capable. I'm using a Acess and a MSsql server database in two separate testing environments. I'm having some trouble finding working information about DNN.
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this questions. What can I do with it?
I installed and begin to explore it and I found that it brings some basic CMS functions, users, file managment, logs managment, and so on....

My questions are very basic, what is really skinning and how can I develop my own skins?

How does it really work, for example if one of the tab/page would be a table with for example the season fixtures of a football team, and I would want to display every week match results to be filled dynamically, I will need a backoffice page for filling and managing the fixtures and a page for showing the results for the visitors. How can I do it?. I can create a page and assign that page to a specific tab, but how can a user manage that results from the backoffice?

Is DNN the better choice for what I want? is there any other free CMS system that is better?

Should I start using version 3? is it stable?

Where can I find more help information about this subject?

Hi plan9, welcome to DNN.

DNN is a portal framework that is designed to be extended with "Modules". Those modules are built by developers in thsi community and can be free or $ for. Sounds like what you want is something like the Sports Pools module. Search the forum for Pools and you will find it. Very cool module.

Skinnign is the ability to load up a special HTML file into DNN to completely chage its look. Check out www.xd.com.au for Nina's cool work in this area.

There are plenty of free cms around but in my totally biased opinion DNN is the BEST.

Version 3 is stabel and close to final release. use it to try it out and see if it meets your needs.

I have been thinking about DNN, and I should solve my problems for building a backoffice aplications for the customer can manage the content of theire site seems simple, i hope this is true....

I created some tabs and gave different permitions for them, a user called football as only prmissions to a specific set of tabs where this user as permissions and in this pages work like a backoffice for managing the content that appears in the frontend tab that reads the tables with the records filled in the football user specific pages.

My problem is that I need to make my own modules for my portal, Where can I find some information or how can it be done?
